JD Fresh gets direct cherry sources from Chilean exporters

China takes up 95% of Chile’s cherry exports.

JD Fresh has signed agreements with four top Chilean cherry exporters—Garces Fruit, Copefrut, Nature South, and Fruittita, for direct sourcing of cherries from Chile, the company revealed in a press release.

Crispy and sweet, Chilean cherries are well received by Chinese consumers, JD said. China is the world’s largest market for Chilean cherries, and nearly 95% of Chilean cherries for export are sold to China, noted Chile ambassador to China Luis Schmidt Montes.

Under the uncertainties of the supply chain, direct sourcing from Chile will ensure supply chain efficiency and control losses, the company said.

To standardise cherries, JD has implemented several measures on specifications, weight, packaging, and more.
